Debmalya Barh; Ph.D, is a Full Professor (Titular, Grade-E) at the Department of Genetics, Ecology, and Evolution, ICB, Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG), Brazil who has introduced and teaches “Precision Health” course here. He is also an honorary scientist at the Institute of Integrative Omics and Applied Biotechnology (IIOAB), India. Dr. Barh is blended with both the academic and industrial research for decades and an expert in integrative omics-based biomarker and target discovery in infectious and lifestyle diseases and precision/personalized health. He has co-authored more than 215+ research/review articles, 45+ book chapters, and has 26+ books related to various omics applied to biomedical, cancers, sports, exercise, nutrition, Covid-19, personalized and precision medicine. His team is the first to show specific bacterial cellulose from Kombucha could be bio-signature of extra-terrestrial life and this bacterial cellulose and Kombucha may be helpful in future Mars and space colonization. He is also the first to apply precision health-based nutrigenomics approach in COVID-19 to understand why certain countries had shown very high death rate in this pandemic.
